Approximately forty miles off the cost of Panama City lies the Perl Islands archipelago. The Spanish conquistadors discovered the island in 1503, and named them Pearl Islands after discovering a great quantity of sea pearls. The Contadora Island is the one most frequented by the tourists. It offers several nice resorts, small boutique hotels, and even an airport.
The Pearl Islands are famous for their pristine white sand beaches, scuba diving, marine life (whale and dolphin watching) and delicate ecosystems. Panama environmental protection laws limit the urban development in order to preserve the Islands wildlife.
The Pearl Islands are located in the North Pacific Ocean in the Gulf of Panama. The most common way to the islands is by ferry. The ride takes about an hour and a half, and is very comfortable. Once there, you can hire a smaller boat and go island hopping. Another option is to fly. The flight itself will take approximately 15 minutes, but with check-in time and time to get to the airport, it may take longer than a boat. You can go to the islands for a one day trip or stay overnight. (#kosher, #Panama,#Contadora, #PerlIslands )
